What to Expect During a Vascular Ultrasound
Before Your Scan
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing
- Avoid applying lotions or creams to the area being scanned
- Inform staff if you have a history of surgery, vascular conditions, or are pregnant
During the Scan
- A warm gel is applied to the area of interest
- The sonographer moves a handheld probe over the skin to capture images
- You may be asked to hold your breath or change positions briefly
- Most scans take 15–30 minutes, depending on the area
