What to Expect During Your CT Appointment
Before Your Scan
- You may need to fast for certain CT scans
- Some scans require contrast dye (injection)
- Inform staff of allergies, kidney problems, or pregnancy
During the Scan
- You lie comfortably on a scanning table
- The scanner moves around you (it does not enclose you fully like an MRI)
- The scan typically takes 5–15 minutes
- The procedure is painless
Most patients can return to normal activities immediately after their scan.

CT scans use higher radiation doses than standard X-rays, but modern scanners are designed to use the lowest dose necessary while maintaining image quality.
All scans are clinically justified and performed under strict radiation safety guidelines.
