What Is an 13-14 Week Anatomy Scan?

A 13–14 week anatomy scan is an early fetal ultrasound performed in the first trimester to:

  • Evaluate major fetal structures, including head, spine, limbs, heart, and abdominal organs

  • Confirm fetal growth and gestational age

  • Assess nuchal translucency in some cases (if not previously performed)

  • Detect potential structural or developmental abnormalities early

  • Provide your obstetrician with information to guide ongoing pregnancy care

This scan complements the nuchal translucency scan and helps with early pregnancy planning and reassurance.
