Our Role

Queensland Radiology Specialists manages and operates diagnostic imaging facilities that support medical practitioners in providing imaging services to patients.

Medical practitioners operating at our clinics generally do so as independent contractors and are responsible for the clinical services they provide to patients. Queensland Radiology Specialists provides the administrative, technical and operational support required for these services.

Some personal information collected may be considered sensitive information under the Privacy Act. This includes:

Remaining Anonymous or Using a Pseudonym

Due to the nature of diagnostic imaging services, it is generally not possible for individuals to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym when dealing with Queensland Radiology Specialists.

  • Accurate patient identification is essential for patient safety
  • Diagnostic results must be correctly matched to the patient
  • It supports communication with referring practitioners and healthcare providers
  • Medicare and private health insurance claims require patient identification
  • Healthcare providers are required to maintain accurate medical records under Australian healthcare regulations

How We Collect Personal Information

We may collect personal information from a range of sources, including:

  • Referral forms from your doctor or healthcare provider
  • Information provided directly by you
  • Hospitals, nursing homes or other healthcare providers involved in your care

When we receive a request for diagnostic imaging services, we create a secure electronic medical record. Each time you attend our practice, new information related to your imaging services may be added to your record.

In some circumstances, a practitioner may request access to your full imaging history at our practice. This will only occur where the practitioner confirms that you have provided consent.

Overseas Disclosure of Personal Information

Queensland Radiology Specialists does not routinely transfer personal information overseas.

If personal information is transferred outside Australia, we will ensure it is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles relating to cross-border disclosure.

There is no fee for requesting access or corrections, however a reasonable administrative fee may apply for providing copies of records.

In some circumstances we may refuse access as permitted by law. If this occurs, we will provide written reasons and information on how you can make a complaint.

If you have concerns about how we handle your personal information, or believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you may contact us in writing.
